Manduca Sexta feeding chart.

Manduca Sexta Lab Mar 09 FINAL DAY

Following instructions, students recorded the weight of the worm, cleaned the plastic container that housed the worm and left the live specimen in a designated container where the worm "died of natural causes"
In the last day, our worm reached a weight of 1 gm and reached a length of approximately 4cm. This was the only day were ordinary objects were provided during the photo session to provide a sense of scale.

At this stage, the worm has shown clear signs of growth. Not only is the physical appearance of the worm different, but appetite and behavior has changed.

The worm is starting to show small signs of growth. Among them, its coloring is starting to show a more vivid green as well the elongation of the thorax.

Nothing worth reporting, still no clear reference with which to measure the growth of the worm.

In these sets of photos one can observe that the head of the worm has started to increase in size. Also worth noting, this particular day the worm was adamant of letting its food go. In order to properly record the weight of the food leftover and that of the worms one had to first moisten the dried food to let it soften.

Due to lack of planning, the quality and consistency of the photos provided for this experiment lack proper composition and follow no specific order. Also, lacking was a reference object or constant value with which to measure the change (if any) the worm was experiencing. At most, one can only compare the worm's size to that of the plastic tray in which the food was served.
